Battle of the Batman beauties: Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard are stunning in white at The Dark Knight Rises premiere

The leading ladies of The Dark Knight Rises battled it out on the red carpet of the movie’s premiere tonight.
Anne Hathaway and Marion Cotillard both slipped into glamorous white dresses to promote the film in New York.
Anne took the plunge in a Grecian style gown which boasted jewelled detailing on the bust, a cowel back and a dramatic flowing train.

Meanwhile Marion sported a youthful cream-coloured frock with ruffled net skirt, which showed off her enviable legs, and she teamed the dress with sparkling silver heels.
It was fitting that the stunning starlets should compete in the style stakes as they play characters on different sides of good and evil in the upcoming superhero movie.
Anne takes on the role of villain Catwoman while Marion plays Miranda Tate, a board member eager to help Bruce Wayne continue his father’s philanthropic ventures.

The film’s star Christian Bale looked suave in a classic black suit as he arrived with wife Sibi Blažić, who was also sporting black in the form of a figure-hugging dress.
Christian posed up with co-star Gary Oldman on the red carpet, who was wearing a brown suit offset with a deep blue shirt.
Christian and his wife weren’t the only attendees to opt for a simple palette as Juno Temple donned a little black dress with matching shoes for the event.

The star, who plays Catwoman’s sidekick Holly Robinson, piled her sandy blonde locks on top of her head in a ballerina bun to complete her look.
Tom Hardy was looking as dapper as his co-stars in a suit and his fiancee harlotte Riley looked pretty in a blue prom dress.

 

And True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld chose a colourful ensemble in the form of a blue and pink floral dress complete with a pussybow.

The rising star defied her tender 15 years and looked remarkably grown-up, sweeping her brunette tresses into an elegant chignon and topping off her look with wooden sandals.
Meanwhile Zoe Kravitz courted attention in a sheer black dress with strategically placed bits of fabric, while Michelle Trachtenberg chose a navy number with lace detailing.
Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Penn Badgley and business magnates Donald Trump and Russell SImmons were also on hand to show their support for the film.
The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final instalment of the Batman saga and hits cinemas July 20.
