Joan Collins last night chose a splendid way to celebrate her 79th birthday - and Her Majesty seemed just as delighted to share the moment.
Our 86-year-old Queen had a beaming smile on her face as she met the veteran actress at a Diamond Jubilee arts celebration in London.

Mrs Collins looked stunning as she curtsied in her cream frilly dress and silver heels, standing next to fellow Dynasty soap opera star Kate O'Mara.
 
She also defied her age of 72, looking fabulous in a purple gown and leopard-print heels.
The actresses were among hundreds of music, dance and art celebrities who gathered to pay tribute to the Queen at the Royal Academy of Arts.
'I'm such a great admirer of her,' Mrs Collins said.
'I think she is the most wonderful, incredible woman and just a great Queen.
'There will never be anyone like her again. I always want to know what she keeps in the handbag.'

U2 frontman Bono and Sir Paul McCartney were present, while the Queen also met Dame Shirley Bassey and singer Jamie Cullum.
Dame Judi Dench and author Philip Pullman were among other guests invited, including rapper Tinie Tempah and comedian Harry Hill.
