Kat Von D tweeted a photograph of Miley Cyrus's new anatomical heart tattoo on her forearm on Saturday

She has largely kept quiet as rumours of a split with her fiance Liam Hemsworth have continued to swirl.
But Miley Cyrus has now decided to wear her heart on her sleeve - quite literally.
The 20-year-old star got a new tattoo on her forearm on Friday - a mini replica of Leonardo da Vinci's anatomical heart drawing.

Celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D did the inking, tweeting the results on her Twitter page.
'Just did the RADDEST tattoo on @MileyCyrus,' she wrote.  'A miniature rendition of a da Vinci anatomical heart!'
The star also posted the original black and white illustration next to the photograph. 
Miley was clearly proud of the new inking, retweeting Kat's post.
The star got her tattoo underneath an existing inking of roman numerals.

The daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has several tattoos already including the word 'love' on the inside of her right ear, a pair of crossed arrows on her back and a cross, heart and peace sign on her fingers. 
She also has the phrase 'just breathe;' on her chest and an equals sign on her finger representing marriage equality.
Miley and Lian, 23, even have matching tattoos - different quotes from a speech by Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The star has been spotted without her engagement ring, fueling rumours her engagement to Liam has been called off. 
A few days ago, Miley refuted the claims, in a somewhat indirect way.

The actress and singer  to explain away her missing engagement ring in a Twitter message on Friday by hinting that it was merely being fixed.
The Hannah Montana star was responding to a tweet from her backup singer Lindsey J Lee earlier in the day.
Miley's friend complained that she 'had to send off my engagement ring today to get fixed... one of the little diamonds fell out... I feel naked without it :( so sad!'
The former Disney star replied a few hours later, stating that she could relate to her friend's frustration.
'@lindseyjlee ugh that's the worst! I just had a similar situation except when it happens to me then everyone says my wedding is off.'
In what appeared to be a possible staged Twitter interaction, the backup singer replied, stating 'I saw first hand how happy u & Liam are. don't let them get to u!'

The rumour mill: Miley Cyrus denied claims that she and Liam Hemsworth had split, hinting in a Twitter message on Friday that she was merely getting her engagement ring fixed

This is the first time the star has spoken up since the news broke of her split from The Hunger Games actor earlier this week.
But her Twitter message doesn't explain Liam's recent trip to Australia, which sources say the 23-year-old actor took to 'get some space' from his fiancee.
'Liam did fly home to Australia so they could have a break. He has been spending time with his brother Chris, with whom he is very close,' said an insider.
Miley was upset by his departure, and 'took her engagement ring off to make him mad,' the source said last week.

Liam, meanwhile, was seen arriving in Manila in the Philippines on Friday to promote his new movie Empire State.

He has so far remained silent about his reported split from Miley, choosing to rather lay low in Sydney and enjoy some down time with his loved ones.
A source previously said: 'He doesn't seem especially sad [or] happy. He seems to be enjoying seeing his family as far as we can tell.'

Liam has also purchased a new home in Australia as he contemplates his future with Miley.

The Hunger Games star's parents arranged the purchase of the $1.6 million house in late in 2012 and he has been staying there amid the turmoil surrounding his personal life.
