The hat's designer Luke Song recently revealed he had a multitude of requests to make copies of Aretha's headgear for this year's event, while The Smithsonian museum requested Aretha's original to put on display.
The pair were spotted in the crowd at the West Front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC, and according to People, were overheard talking about their impressive seats at the Inauguration.
The couple held hands as they arrived together, with Katy smiling broadly.
They joined a star-studded audience to watch Kelly Clarkson sing My Country, 'Tis of Thee and Beyoncé perform the National Anthem.
Katy performed on Saturday for first lady Michelle Obama, Sasha and Malia and Jill Biden at the Kids' Inaugural Ball alongside Usher and the cast of 'Glee.'
There, she sported a star and stripes style 1950s ensemble, but covered up on Monday in a brown and black striped coat and black hat.

'It's been amazing year, and 2013 is kicking off with us doing the inauguration... it's just an incredible thing,' said lead singer Nate Ruess. 'I think the three of us care so much about Obama and so to be invited, I can't even deal.'
