Hollywoodnews.com: Tom Cruise has never been one to shy away from a
dangerous stunt. But those interested in getting a sneak peek at his
latest thrilling endeavor had to look way up into the Dubai sky.
Cruise was dangling from the Burj Khalifa skyscraper, the world’s
tallest building, to film a scene from Brad Bird’s “Mission:
Impossible — Ghost Protocol,” the fourth installment in the spy
franchise. And the Daily Mirror has a pretty good shot of the stunt in
scale, just to give you an idea of how far from the ground Cruise was
perched.
“I was holding my breath, I thought one false move and he’s finished
but he pulled it off,” said one fan who was hanging out at the bottom
of the building watching Cruise’s latest escapades.
Cruise returns as secret agent Ethan Hunt in the film, though details
about the plot are being kept under wraps. We know Cruise will be
joined by Jeremy Renner, Josh Holloway, Paula Patton and Ving Rhames.
We know Bird is directing from a J.J. Abrams story idea. And we know
that’s actually Cruise hanging on the side of that skyscraper, doing
his own stunts.
“Tom has been preparing for this stunt for some time,” said
spokeswoman Amanda Lundberg. “He believes if he performs the stunts
himself, the audience believes more in his character.”
“Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” will be in theaters next
December.
