Richard Hammond... the one man shorter than Tom Cruise! Top Gear presenter dwarfed by Mission Impossible star at premiere

At just 5ft 7.75in tall, it's rare that finds a celebrity male shorter than him.
So the 49-year-old actor must have been delighted when he found out that Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond was on the guest list for the premiere of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol last night.
Cruise grinned widely posed up with Hammond, who, at 5ft 7in is estimated to be just 2cm shorter than Cruise, outside the BFI Imax in Waterloo last night.
But neither Cruise nor Hammond had any chance of competing on the height front with Hammond's fellow Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson, who is almost a foot taller than Hammond at a towering 6ft 5in.

Cruise posed up with Hammond and Clarkson after having become friends with the pair when taking part in the Star In A Reasonably Priced Car segment on the BBC show while promoting movie Knight And Day last year.

Despite speculation that Cruise's wife Katie Holmes would be joining him at last night's London premiere, the star instead went solo on the red carpet for the star-studded event.
After arriving at the premiere, Cruise stuck to his usual protocol by spending hours meeting his fans, and even speaking to their mothers, before making his way inside.

The actor was snapped posing for the hordes of cameras outside the IMAX, where the film is being screened in 3D.
But once the flashbulbs had started to subside, or as other guests made their way up the red carpet, Tom went straight for his fans, who had been waiting outside in the cold and the rain for a glimpse of their idol.
And they got more than a glimpse as Tom stopped and chatted with them and posed for photos, which left a couple of his female fans somewhat excited, as they looked at each other and screamed.

Tom is in the capital to promote the fourth film in the Mission: Impossible series which is released in the UK on Boxing Day and in the U.S. on the 21st.
He was joined at the premiere by co-star Simon Pegg, who was joined by his wife Maureen McCann, and who looked very smart in his grey suit.

Having joined her co-stars for the premieres in Dubai - where a lot of the film was shot - Germany and Spain, Paula Patton wasn't going to miss out on the London fun.
The 36-year-old didn't even appear to notice the cold as she posed for the cameras in a short and slinky embellished cream dress, her dark hair loose around her shoulders.

Also attending was Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond and his wife Mindy and his co-star Jeremy Clarkson who arrived with his daughter. Both know Cruise after he appeared on the show last year.
Other guests included Sinitta and Caprice, who defied the icy temperatures in a very short strapless red dress.
The film sees Cruise's character Ethan Hunt take on a new mission after a bomb attack on the Kremlin in Russia forces the U.S. President to initiate 'Ghost Protocol', which means that the entire IMF - Impossible Missions Force, a fictional independent espionage agency employed by the US government - has been disavowed.

The film also marks the action debut for director Brad Bird, who is best known for writing and directing Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles and Ratatouille.
It was produced by Lost creator J.J Abrams, who directed Cruise in the third instalment of this movie franchise.

And once again, Cruise gave insurance agencies the fear as he insisted on doing his own stunts again, and in this film he is seen dangling precariously 2,000ft up as he clings on to the Burj Kahlifa in Dubai, the tallest building in the world, which, even by his standards, was Cruise's most dangerous yet.
Speaking to the Daily Record this summer, he said: 'I want to entertain the audience and part of making these movies is doing my own stunts.
